What is the coating on this bottle?

The exterior of the bottle is coated with a safe, impact resistant material. It is in compliance with the FDA Code of Federal Register (CFR 21) for contact with food. It contains no BPA’s, and is environmentally safe. The exterior can be incinerated without the concern of hazardous residues or emissions.

Although the coating offers impact resistance, the glass bottle can still break. If damage to the bottle occurs, the coating will ‘hold’ any large glass pieces so that the bottle can be disposed of safely.

What is the clear top made of?

The top is manufactured with Eastman Tritan™, a BPA-free material that is completely safe for contact with food. Tritan was developed for use in the infant care market and is approved for repeated use in contact food use under Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.

Are the bottles and tops dishwasher safe?

Yes. The bottle and top can be washed in your dishwasher without any harm to the bottle or top. To retain peak performance of your PURE Glass Bottle, you can also wash both bottle and top by hand. Make sure when you put the bottle in the dishwasher you rinse your dishes, this will help avoid staining of the coating from ketchup, mustard and grape juice and other colored foods, this step is recommended.

What is the interior of the bottle made of?

The interior is made of Borosilicate Glass. The strongest glass on the market.

How much liquid will the bottles hold?

The Proclamation bottle holds 520 ml or 20.0 ounces.
The Explorer will hold 740 ml or 25.0 ounces of liquid.

What should I do if the glass bottle breaks?

Discontinue use of the bottle immediately. The coating will hold all the broken glass within its safety coating, however use caution. The bottle can be disposed of by either taking the bottle to a recycling center or disposing of it in the proper trash receptacle. Under no circumstances should you attempt to remove the safety coating from the broken glass bottle.

Why use glass?

Glass is made from sustainable raw materials. It offers unparalleled purity and preserves a beverage's taste and flavor and its healthiness. Glass is 100% recyclable. Glass is the only packaging material rated 'Generally Regarded as Safe' (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The first glass vessels used date back well over 3600 years. This rich history is probably the reason why glass is universally the most popular material to drink from.

Why select glass over other materials?

Aluminum, Stainless Steel and Plastic bottles have been linked to possible health concerns; with the use of BPA (as a component of the plastic bottle or as an interior coating to metal bottles). Other concerns are inconsistent quality and grade of materials used to manufacture the bottles; leaching upon contact with acidic juices and carbonated drinks. Many people also have taste concerns when using; plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel. Recycling is not as consistent as with glass.

What is the best ways to care for my PURE Glass Bottle?

The PURE Glass Bottle should provide years of problem free use.

However, here are some tips to insure added enjoyment of your bottle:

1 - The bottles can be washed completely in the dishwasher, but the glass bottle portion needs to be washed on the top rack, with the plastic handle remaining on the bottle. You can also choose to wash by hand.

2 - The o-rings are designed to stay in the tops until you remove them manually. However, when washing the tops in the dishwasher o-rings may come out of the top. You may want to wash the tops and o-rings by hand or put them in the silverware holder section of your dishwasher.

3 - Be sure to put all tops and o-rings back on straight and tight, if not, bottles may leak.

4 - This glass product is not to be used in the microwave or freezer. The microwave will cause the coating to melt and bubble, and the freezer will cause the glass to break.

5 - After dishwashing, in some cases the bottle may develop a very light cloudy spot called a "blush". Leaving the bottle in the open air for a day will clear this up.

That's it, enjoy your PURE Glass Bottle!

Can I put hot or cold liquids in the bottle?

Yes. In the case of hot liquids, you need to be able to pick-up the bottle with your hand to drink the liquid. Any drink that you would normally put in glass can be put in the PURE Glass Bottle.
